Brook responds to release of data on sexually transmitted infections

Responding to Public Health England's publication of the sexually transmitted infection (STI) statistics for England in 2013, Brook's Chief Executive Simon Blake OBE commented:

"We know what works to reduce rates of STIs and improve young people’s sexual health and wellbeing – accessible contraceptive and sexual health services, together with high-quality sex and relationships education for all young people. Today’s figures underline the need to make sure our focus remains on efforts to prevent and treat STIs in a timely manner.

"The Department of Health's Framework for Sexual Health Improvement in England states 'we need to continue to work to reduce the rate of STIs using evidence-based preventative interventions and treatment initiatives' – sexual health is too important to be pushed down the agenda."
