Youth Justice Board award won by Brook Milton Keynes and Oakhill Secure Training Centre

Brook Milton Keynes is celebrating! The service recently won an award from the Youth Justice Board for its work with young offenders, in partnership with Oakhill Secure Training Centre, in Milton Keynes.

The six-week Fatherhood Programme is designed for young men in custody, aged 14 – 17, who are either fathers, expectant fathers or may want advice about relationships and fatherhood. The course is run by Hayden Tennant, an Education and Training Advanced Practitioner from Brook, and Kate Bulman, Staff Nurse from Oakhill Secure Training Centre, whose previous accolades include winning Sexual health professional of the year at the UK Sexual Health Awards 2013.

Hayden Tennant had this to say about the accolade:

“Winning this award is a fantastic achievement for Oakhill and for Brook. The course has had a big impact on the young offenders who take part, giving them vital knowledge and life skills. It is very exciting to have the work we do recognised by the Youth Justice Board.”
