Statement on the Children's Commissioner's report on child sexual exploitation: Time for action

Today (17 February 2015) the Office of the Children’s Commissioner released a report, “If it’s not better, it’s not the end” − Inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) in Gangs and Groups: One year on. Georgia Johnston, Brook’s CSE Lead, said:

“Safeguarding children and young people, and protecting them from CSE, is everyone’s responsibility. As the Children’s Commissioner’s report shows, a joined up response that has children and young people’s voices and wellbeing at its heart is vital if we are to root out and eradicate this horrible crime. We know how to tackle CSE – now we need national and local government to back up words with action by ensuring that services to help young people affected by CSE have the funding they urgently require.”
