'Life Lessons' report: It's time for statutory PSHE education

Responding to the publication today (17 February 2015) of the House of Commons Education Select Committee’s report, Life Lessons: PSHE (personal, social, health and economic) education and SRE (sex and relationships education) in schools, Brook’s CEO Simon Blake OBE said:

“Well done to the Education Select Committee for the milestone ‘Life Lessons’ report, which concludes that making personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education statutory is the right thing to do. Now it is time for politicians to take action to safeguard children and young people’s physical, mental and sexual health and wellbeing by following through and making sure all schools offer young people comprehensive PSHE education.”

The Life Lessons report recommends that the Government “formally endorse and issue” the SRE Supplementary Advice issued by Brook, the PSHE Association and the Sex Education Forum in 2014.
