Brook statement on self-injectable contraceptive

In response to the news that the injectable contraceptive Sayana has been approved for self-injection following instruction from a healthcare professional, Sue Burchill, Brook's Head of Nursing said:

"We're really pleased to see a new way to administer a long acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) become available. LARCs are popular with many people as they fit with their lifestyles; they're also really cost effective, so it's great to see innovation which will expand the range of choices on offer.

"Brook always advises anyone using a LARC to use barrier methods of contraception, such as condoms and dental dams, in order to protect against sexually transmitted infections."
