Volunteer role title: Education and wellbeing volunteer

Location: Essex and Thurrock

Number of hours required: 2 to 6 per week

Role includes: Support Education and Wellbeing Specialists when delivering targeted education and professionals training in Essex and Thurrock.

Volunteer role title: Community Champion

Location: Southend-on-Sea

Hours: up to 12 per month

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who live or work in Southend-on-Sea to help us to communicate and cascade positive sexual and reproductive health messages to individuals in Southend. 

Community Champions will:

  • Receive high quality training to improve sexual health knowledge as well as presentation and communication skills
  • Receive on-going support and mentoring from specialist Brook staff
  • Gain experience in delivering sexual and reproductive health promotion
  • Meet people with similar interests and passions
  • Make a positive impact in their community

Volunteer role title: Community Champion

Location: Barnet

Hours: 12 per month

We would particularly welcome applicants who are interested or have experience in working in HIV prevention service and working with BME communities and under-represented groups

Why be a Community Champion?

  • Community Champions are trained to be leaders in their local area and are knowledgeable about sexual and reproductive health
  • Champions take action against stigma and discrimination by supporting Brook to deliver clear sex-positive messages to people in the various communities across Barnet
  • Champions are influencers and will be equipped with the necessary training, information and skills to engage with their community and offer support regarding sexual and reproductive health
  • Champions are a voice in their communities, promoting awareness and assisting individuals to make informed choices about their sexual health and wellbeing

Hours: 12 per month

This volunteer role will support Love Sex Life, a BME Sexual and Reproductive Health service focused on Black African and Black Caribbean Communities in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. We particularly welcome applicants who are interested or have experience working with BME communities and under-represented groups.

  • Champions take action against stigma and discrimination by supporting Brook to deliver clear sex-positive messages to people in the various communities across Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham
  • Champions are influencers and will be equipped with the necessary training, information and skills to engage with their community and offer support regarding sexual and reproductive health
  • Champions are a voice in their communities, promoting awareness and assisting individuals to make informed choices about their sexual health and wellbeing

Volunteer role title: PrEP Promotion Community Champion

Location: Lambeth and Southwark

Hours: up to 12 per month

This volunteer role will work with Brook to enhance community mobilisation and engagement by communicating and cascading positive messages on PrEP to their local communities. Champions will assist individuals in their local communities to access a range of sexual health and wellbeing services, helping them to take responsibility for their own health needs.

  • Community Champions are trained to be leaders in their local area and are knowledgeable about sexual and reproductive health
  • Champions take action against stigma and discrimination by supporting Brook to deliver clear sex-positive messages to people in the various communities across
  • Champions are influencers and will be equipped with the necessary training, information and skills to engage with their community and offer support regarding PrEP and other related areas.
  • Champions are a voice in their communities, promoting awareness and assisting individuals to make informed choices about their sexual health and wellbeing
