Education and Training in Bristol

The Bristol Education and Training team delivers a wide range of affordable sex and relationships education (SRE) programmes in secondary schools, special schools, colleges and community settings.

We have over 50 years experience of working with young people and we firmly believe in the need for all young people to receive good quality sex and relationships education (SRE) which is part of broader personal, social health and economic (PSHE) education. Brook Works

Brook can offer one-off bespoke sex and relationship workshops as part of your programme.  Each workshop needs to be a minimum of 50 minutes.  Sessions available include:

•          Abortion: decisions and dilemmas

•          Accessing services

•          Body image and self esteem

•          Condoms and contraception

•          Exploitation and abuse

•          Gender identities

•          Healthy relationships

•          Pornography

•          Prejudice and discrimination

•          Pressure and delaying sex

•          Puberty, anatomy and hygiene

•          Risk taking with sexual health

•          Sex and technology

•          Sexual bullying

•          Sexual consent and the law

•          Sexuality

•          Sexual pleasure and readiness

•          STIs and infection testing

Brook BiteSize

Brook BiteSize is a half day or full day information event. Based on BiteSize zones, it can cover sexual health and relationships, CSE violence and abuse, and health and wellbeing. This interactive high energy event works with up to 100 young people at a time, making it ideally suited to secondary schools and colleges. Young people work in smaller teams of 12-15 and rotate around a number of themed learning zones. Each zone consists of innovative board games or activities that have been designed to encourage young people to learn through participation.

Brook Promotional events and assemblies

Brook Education team is able to provide stalls and activities as part of health events, drop-down days and Fresher’s programmes. We can also provide assemblies to all age groups – this can be signposting to services, or hour long interventions using interactive presentations.


CRUSH is an evidence based domestic abuse intervention aimed at 13-18 year olds. It is a 10 week course designed by West Mercia Women’s Aid. It is suitable for females and males, victims, perpetrators and those deemed ‘at risk’ of domestic abuse in their own or home relationships.


VIPMe is a 12 week Multi-Agency programme to develop young women’s self-esteem and confidence. A mixture of structured, and informal workshops, the programme explore a range of issues including friendships and bullying, confidence & self-esteem, health & well-being, safe relationships, sexual health & teenage pregnancy.


Single workshops are free to commissioned schools in Bristol and South Gloucestershire (i.e. those schools where Brook runs outreach clinics). There will be a charge to other schools and agencies, and for other programmes.
